Year 6 were thrilled to welcome Shiza, our Mental Health Support Practitioner, who kindly accepted our invitation to share her experiences as a Muslim. As part of their learning about diversity in Durham, the children were fascinated to hear about Shiza's personal faith journey and how the Five Pillars of Islam guide her daily life and commitment to her beliefs. The children asked thoughtful and insightful questions, showing genuine curiosity and respect as they explored similarities and differences between faiths. It was a truly inspiring morning, that brought learning to life and helped deepen the children's understanding of the rich diversity within our local community. Through Shiza's openness and warmth, our children were reminded of the importance of respect, understanding and celebrating the unique stories that make each person who they are. ✨
